Cloudbusting are the longest running and most universally celebrated tribute to the music of Kate Bush and have forged a world renowned reputation for staging ambitious live productions, far beyond the scope of what is usually expected of a touring tribute act.

Having previously performed with a string quartet and saxophonist for their ‘The Kick Inside’ anniversary shows, Cloudbusting now take the next audacious step and are thrilled to announce that this November they will be joined by over 40 members of West London Sinfonia for three very special concerts.

BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning film & TV composer Rob Lane will be creating the arrangements for the performances, with Musical Director Philip Hesketh conducting and Iwona Boesche (Violin) leading the Sinfonia

The Creative Team

With TV appearances and live performances across both the UK and Europe, CLOUDBUSTING has earned an enviable reputation for being unquestionably the most accurate and authentic live experience for Kate fans.

Significantly, they are the only band in the world to have performed Kate’s music with her original bass player and long standing sound engineer Del Palmer, as well as drummer and percussionist Preston Heyman who appeared on the Tour Of Life, Never For Ever & The Dreaming. The band has also performed with Stewart Avon-Arnold - Kate’s co-choreographer and dance partner who appeared with her in so many of those iconic videos and performances throughout her career.

That’s quite an endorsement for Cloudbusting but it also stands as a reflection of the talent, tenacity and passion that the 5-piece band has for Kate’s stunning music.

Now in its 54th year, WEST LONDON SINFONIA is an amateur orchestra with ambition and passion. Their players, many of whom work in music or music education, come from all over London.

In normal years they perform five concerts locally, and a summer concert either in central London or on Kew, though they have also given concerts in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, and Portugal.

They perform a wide variety of music, and try be both popular and adventurous with a concentration on larger orchestral works from the 19th (especially late 19th) and early 20th centuries,.
They regularly perform with world class soloists, and are fortunate to have Philip Hesketh as their musical director and Iwona Boesche as their leader.

One of the most versatile and sought after composers working today, ROB LANE is a multi-award winning composer with a huge array of credits across many genres. A BAFTA winner for his score for Channel 4’s Elizabeth starring Helen Mirren, he has also received 3 Ivor Novello awards, 3 RTS awards and 4 Emmy nominations for scores as diverse as John Adams, Blackpool, Jane Eyre, Longford, Daniel Deronda, Charles II, Babs and The Last Weekend.

Rob’s remarkable ear for a memorable melody and gift for orchestral writing has graced many a period drama, from Love In Cold Climate, Henry VIII and Tess Of The D’Urbervilles through to BBC1’s recent World War One drama The Crimson Field.

Rob has also periodically written concert pieces including “Evocations” in 2012 for string quartet and “Plath Poems” in 2015 for soprano, piano and string quartet.

PHILIP HESKETH became conductor of West London Sinfonia in 1991, and under his leadership the orchestra has built its reputation as one of the leading amateur groups in London.

Over his career, Philip has succeeded in building a portfolio of roles which encompass conducting, communicating and developing the public understanding and love of music in a variety of ways.

He began his career as a professional cello player, but since concentrating his energies on conducting, has led a wide range of professional and amateur groups with great distinction. His knowledge of the repertoire and character of ballet, opera and orchestral works is clear from the multiple musical directorships he holds with (besides West London Sinfonia) Opera de Bauge, Opera Vera, and the London Children’s Ballet.

West London Sinfonia was delighted to welcome IWONA BOESCHE as their leader in 2013.

After winning the highest awards as a young violinist in her native Poland, she came to study at the Royal College of Music in London, and went on to win international violin competitions in Warsaw and Mexico.

She led both the Krakow Radio Symphony Orchestra and London Gay Symphony Orchestra, and was a principal first violin with the Apollo Chamber Orchestra and the Southern Sinfonia.

As a soloist she has played with Polish, German and English orchestras, and has given recitals all over Europe in repertoire covering baroque through to contemporary and jazz.
